Michael Gillen wrote his first book, My Beautiful Tree, at six years old. Ever since then, he has been fascinated by literature. His favorite authors include Ursula K. Le Guin, Philip Pullman, Margaret Atwood, John Milton, and James Baldwin.

He graduated from Vassar College with a degree in English with a minor in Japanese, where he wrote his thesis on William Blake’s epic poem Milton.

Michael lives in New York City with his husband Josh and bulldog Agatha. When he’s not writing he enjoys theater, traveling, and, of course, Dungeons & Dragons.
